2 Day Kangaroo Island Tour Itinerary
Our 2 Day Kangaroo Island Tours from Adelaide are a chance to walk in paradise. Filled with an incredible array of flora and fauna, the island is a favourite haunt for animal lovers and visitors looking to get up close and personal with Australia’s stunning natural scenery. From sprawling, white sand beaches to lush forests and clear, shimmering waters, it looks like it’s just stepped out of a novel.
Departing Adelaide, we enjoy a scenic drive through the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis where we will begin our adventure on a 45-minute ferry ride, through the Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island.
We meet our local driver/guide at Penneshaw, where we will then move on to our first stop, Rob’s Shearing & Sheep Dogs It is here we will be able to witness first hand, a sheep shearing demonstration, by a real Aussie character. We then head to Pennington Bay for a fabulous photo opportunity of the lovely beach.
Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery is our next stop our tour. It is the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia. Following a visit to the spectacular Seal Bay, where more than 500 Australian Sea Lions bask in the sunshine and flop about in the shallow waves. You’ll be able to walk amongst these magnificent creatures and learn more about their habitat and way of life. Little Sahara comprises of huge white sand dunes, where you will be able to test your skills at Sand Boarding.
Our last stop for the day is our home for the evening, Vivonne Bay Lodge. The lodge really lets you experience the wild backdrop of Kangaroo Island, in dormitory accommodation. Spend your free time kayaking in the Harriet River (own expense), swimming at Vivonne Bay Beach taking a self-guided walk through the properties tracks, trail bike riding or simply relaxing. Back at the lodge there are complementary activities to keep you entertained before and after your delicious BBQ dinner. As the sunsets try and spot a Kangaroo a Tammar Wallaby or a Possum whilst sitting around the fire (except in Summer months), or relax on the deck with a glass of vino before heading to bed for the night.
Rise and shine on Day Two as it is time to get up close and personal with the wildlife at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary Here, you can keep an eye out for native wildlife, like koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, and echidnas, as well as quirky plant species and colourful birds. We’ll also take a wander to Remarkable Rocks a collection of unusual rock formations that overlook the ocean.
Continue on to witness the spectacular coastal area of Admirals Arch at Cape Du Couedic, where we will witness the local New Zealand Fur Seals sunbake on the beach and swim in the water. We then enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre
Stokes Bay, a stunning, secluded beach, is next on our agenda, where we will take a leisurely stroll to Ironstone Hill (time permitting) to witness some spectacular views of the mainland.
