Don’t let the wet weather put you off your day in Kangaroo Island!
Kangaroo Island sometimes rains during the winter months of April to September. Two-thirds of the rainfall that ever takes place on Kangaroo Island is between May and September.
But just because it’s raining on Kangaroo Island, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the exciting things this island has to offer!
Here’s a selection of activities that can help you still have fun on Kangaroo Island despite the wet weather.
Go to wineries
Visit the Bay of Shoals Wines – it’s only a stone’s throw away from the town of Kingscote. This quaint winery is famous for its bubbles and roses, Dudley Winery.
The vines are pruned by hand, and the wines pack some serious flavour. Visiting the cellar door is the perfect rainy day activity!
Drive to Emu Bay
Embrace the wet weather and go out for a walk! If the wind isn’t too hectic, take a walk along the beach and watch the waves crash along Emu Bay. Emu Bay offers some seriously incredible views, and a dramatic coastline walk that’s even more atmospheric when it’s rainy!
Browse around art studios
Go and take a look at the fine art studio! Shep’s Studio is home to some beautiful original paintings. Immerse yourself in local artwork and mooch around at work produced by local artists.
Explore the brewery
Check out the Brewery! The Kangaroo Island Brewery is a microbrewery. It’s a little distance from Kingscote, so if you’re staying locally in Kingscote, then it should be easy to get back to your accommodation after doing a brewery tour.
Lighthouse Adventures in the Rain
Tour the lighthouse on Kangaroo Island. Visit Cape du Couedic to see a truly beautiful lighthouse – the grey wet weather shows off the lighthouse in all of its glory!
