Kangaroo Island is an island off the coast of South Australia.

Kangaroo Island is a beautiful escape from life. A lot of people come here to relax and enjoy a short holiday. But you can in fact enjoy Kangaroo Island for two days. It’s recommended to book a tour when visiting Kangaroo Island as there is no public transport or taxis available. You can pre book a hire car on the island in advance. There is a two day Kangaroo Island tour available which takes you to the main attractions on the island.

Now we’ve gone over that, here are some activities and places to visit when on the island.

False Cape Wines

No visit to Kangaroo Island is complete without going to a winery. False Cape Wines was established in 1999 and is now the largest vineyard on Kangaroo Island. The Captain cabernet sauvignon and The Captain chardonnay are both Kangaroo Island wines of the year. When you go for a wine tasting, don’t forget to try some platters and pies. False Cape Wines are open all year round, aside from Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery

Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery is, as you guess, a eucalyptus oil distillery. Emu Ridge is the only Eucalyptus Oil distillery in South Australia, and it has been open since 1991. The store sells 100% pure Australian eucalyptus oil and other natural products like lip balm, cream, and sweets. You can arrange a guided or go on a self-guided tour of the distillery. The tour teaches you about its history and where the eucalyptus oil is produced. You can also sit down for a drink and eat something at the Emu Ridge Cafe.

Seal Bay

You must go to Seal Bay when visiting Kangaroo Island! walk on the boardwalk or the beach to get up close to the Australian sea lions. To see the sea lions, you can book a guided tour or a self-guided tour at the bay. All the sea lions are in their natural habitat at Seal Bay.

Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park

The wildlife park is full of Australian wildlife and over 600 animals in total. There are so many experiences to enjoy at the wildlife park such as hand feeding kangaroos and wallabies or cuddling with a koala. Or get up close to dingoes, meerkats, alligators and more! There are so many animals at this wildlife park that you just have to visit it when you’re on Kangaroo Island.
