With white washed sand, smooth surf breaks, and rugged red rocks, Kangaroo Island is home to some of the most picturesque beaches in Australia.
There are about 50 different beaches in Kangaroo Island which all offer their own slice of island paradise, but here are our favourites. Check out our top beaches in Kangaroo Island.

Stokes Bay
Welcome to the best beach in Australia! This beach won the best beach in Australia, back in 2023 – and it’s easy to see why.
Stokes Bay is slightly hidden away from the North coast of Kangaroo Island. It’s about 50km away from Kingscote.
The whole place feels very secluded and on a quiet day, you’ll feel like the only person on the island!
There is a giant curve of rock that surrounds the water part of the island. This turns the whole beach into a giant rock pool that is protected from any forceful surf.
If you’re after a stunning sunset, then visit this beach on a sunny evening.

Vivonne Bay
Once upon a time, Vivonne Bay was voted the best beach in Australia. Vivonne Bay is a 6km beach that is set in a U-shape. It offers some picture perfect views of the ocean, with a long jetty that attracts crayfish catchers.
There’s a small general store by the side of the beach. Pick up some snacks and take a walk along the jetty that reaches into the ocean, offering some lovely picturesque views.
-
Pennington Bay
Pennington Bay is home to some of the most gorgeous views on the island. The summer sees lots of surfers and holiday makers, but during the low season in winter it’s a bit less crowded.
The sunsets here are dramatic and colourful. It’s a long vast stretch of beach with rolling waves that tempts surfers from all over.
It’s a hub for bushwalkers and surfers alike. If you’re taking a swim around Pennington Bay, make sure you bring your snorkel to marvel at some of the amazing sea life!
If you’re after a morning coffee, pick up a coffee from the beach coffee van nearby and admire the morning skies.

Emu Bay
Emu Bay is a long stretch of coastline that welcomes gorgeous clear waters and inviting sands. There is also a long jetty that stretches out across the water. You can access the beach with a 4WD. When the tide is out, the beach allows for some fun drives across vast plains of sand!
