Adelaide, apart from being a simply awesome town in its own right, is the perfect jumping point for many of Australia’s great nature experiences, one of which is viewing Kangaroo Island’s awesome sea lion colony!

Kangaroo Island’s Seal Bay Conservation Park is simply the best place in Australia to catch a resident sea lion population, the likes of which have been visiting this wondrous spot for thousands of years.

Seal Bay is simply stunning, as it is not only an unforgettable opportunity to see countless sea lions, but it is also a wonderful beach itself, with the sublime Vivonne Bay being found just around the bend.

And whilst Kangaroo Island itself is not in Adelaide, you can take awesome day tours that allow you to experience these adorable pinnipeds in their most natural habitat.

These day trips will also include the following:

Vivonne Bay

Recently crowned “Australia’s best beach” (no easy feat for a temperate beach in a country of stunning tropical shorelines), Vivonne Bay is an absolute joy to behold.

This ideal stretch of coastline is famed for its crystal-white sand and calm, turquoise waters, making it one of the ultimate places to rest and refresh when on your amazing Kangaroo Island/Seal Bay day tour!

Flinders Chase National Park

Flinders Chase ranks among the likes of Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta when it comes to esteemed national parks. Why? Because it is the epitome of a “natural wonderland”, with bizarre rock formations, rugged bushland and abundant wildlife comprising this stunning landscape.

To start, there are the Remarkable Rocks, a surreal series of boulders that seem to be easily defying gravity in the way they naturally stack atop smaller sections.

Next, there is the Admirals Arch, an intriguingly strange open cave that gives way out to the raging Great Australian Bite beyond. Finally, there are the countless Aussie animal species you will find in the park, with the likes of kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, reptiles and all kinds of beautiful birds all inhabiting this pristine wilderness.

Vivonne Bay Bistro

Kangaroo Island is no stranger to delicious cuisine, and so it’s only natural that a tour there should include a sumptuous two course meal at the famed Vivonne Bay Bistro. The lunch will include an array of delectable meats and local cheeses, the perfect compliment to lunch in the most sublime of locations…
