South Australia has really put itself forward as a must-visit tourist destination in the past few years, what with the likes of the Barossa Valley, Kangaroo Island and the marvellous city of Adelaide itself throwing up some of the world’s best festivities.

McLaren Vale Fleurieu Peninsula

Another incredibly charming part of the state, and one that easily carries itself against these giants of Aussie travel, is the glittering Fleurieu Peninsula!

Despite being wonderfully beautiful, the peninsula is always home to a near-endless myriad of adventures that make it an unforgettable place to visit.

Let’s look into some of those awesome adventures below…

Wine & dine in McLaren Vale

McLaren Vale is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of Australia’s most hallowed wine regions. This gorgeous, incredibly fertile production region boasts some of Australia’s finest Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and they have the cellar doors to back it up!

Be sure to check out the amazing cellar doors at Alpha Box and Dice, Fox Creek and d’Arenberg, where the incredible “Cube” awaits to delight your palate and your love for neo-futuristic architecture jutting out from the vineyards below…

Get down to the beach

The Fleurieu Peninsula is one of those wonderful parts of Australia where the wine meets the waves, and one of the best things to do to refresh yourself after a day’s cellar door-ing is to head down to one of the peninsula’s picturesque beachfronts.

There are also plenty of water adventures to enjoy along the Fleurieu Peninsula, including the likes of surfing, fishing, snorkelling and kayaking, just to name a few!

Port Willunga, Port Noarlunga, Yankalilla and Normanville all boast spectacular beaches, with dramatic, expansive views across the windswept coastline sure to reinvigorate even the sorest of hungover heads…

Watch whales in the ocean

Just when you thought the Fleurieu Peninsula couldn’t get any more magical they also happen to have majestic whales frolicking just off the shoreline! Be sure to pack your binoculars and get on down to Goolwa and Victor Harbour for a cheeky spell of whale spotting!

Southern Right Whales are known to come right up to the shore in either spot and are just an absolute joy to behold.

You will be enamoured by these wondrous creatures and understand why it’s just another reason that the Fleurieu Peninsula is such an unmissable place for Aussie travel, really…
