Kangaroo Island is a land like no other, with abundant wildlife, stunning natural beauty, gorgeous beaches and sumptuous cuisine all concentrated in the one dreamy landscape!
From the surreal Flinders Chase National Park to the sublime Vivonne Bay, charming Penneshaw and the plethora of distilleries, farms and vineyards, Kangaroo Island never ceases to amaze its visitors with its awe-inspiring adventure…
You can take day trips from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island, which take about 16 hours all up. These unforgettable day trips include stops at some of Kangaroo Island’s most divine locations, places that rank near-mythical status for those who have never been and that await when they get there.
They include the likes of:
Vivonne Bay
Southern Australia isn’t as renowned for its beaches as the tropical north, but that’s only because they aren’t those hazy tropical beauties that are picture-perfect for tourism pamphlets!
But that doesn’t mean they aren’t subtropical slices of paradise, and Vivonne Bay is perhaps the best of all, having been ranked that by a uni professor who literally visited thousands of Aussie beaches to decide on a winner.
He certainly wasn’t too far off the mark: Vivonne Bay is truly spectacular; a gorgeous stretch of stunning white sand and turquoise waters, with the likes of the joyous Seal Bay housing its cheeky namesakes just around the corner – win-win!
Flinders Chase National Park
Alongside the likes of Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta there is Flinders Chase National Park, home to some of the Southern Hemisphere’s most astounding natural wonder.
If it isn’t the incredible cliff top views across the wild Great Australian Bite, or the otherworldly landmarks of the Remarkable Rocks (a series of impossibly-formed rocks) or the Admirals Arch cave, it’s the wildlife, as you are likely to find anything from kangaroos to koalas, reptiles and all kinds of birds inhabiting this incredible national park…
The Food
Kangaroo Island is one of Australia’s great culinary producers, with everything from glistening honey to some of the world’s best gin and, of course, amazing seafood all available on this wondrous foodie landscape.
Of course, partaking in a Kangaroo Island tour means enjoying some of that fantastic cuisine, and day trippers will have the opportunity to enjoy a delectable two-course meal at the revered Vivonne Bay Bistro, with its elegant fare and gorgeous country backdrop making it the perfect place to re energise before the tour continues…
